My Sign/Tribute Art

Recently my class has been working on signs of old Aotearoa history around were we live.  Me and my friend Kale´a are in a group on a famous horse and his owner.  the name of our sign is Tore te A-Hoiho-John.  

We started by painting the base blue.  That was our base colour.  Then, while I was gone Kale´a had to work on the project alone. She made the grass alone, she thinks that it's to long.  I think it's perfect.  In the days after that (Mainly Yesterday) we added in the ocean, a GIANT rugby ball, a rugby goal that's smaller than the ball, the clouds and sun, a title, and last but certainly not least, The horse himself.  We've only done the out line.

The only reason were not finished is because, Kale´a started to draw the horses leg, but I pointed out it was to long.  Me and Kale´a burst into hysterical giggles.  We went outside to paint over it, but had to do it 3 times for it not to show.  Only because Kale´a did it in vivid.  When it was finally gone Kale´a painted the Ocean while I did white wash.  Then I drew the Rugby ball and we painted it.  The post was simple so I just did 3 lines, and the clouds are done too.  Me and Kale´a also found the perfect orangey-beige colour for the sun.

I Just painted the horse a pale beige with a blue mane and black saddle.  The teacher told us we have to make it paler, the beige, though.

CAMP!!

In week 7 I went to yr 6 camp.  First, we went up, to run the confidence course.  Apparently, we were the fastest group that the teachers had ever made do that.  We also went on a hike every day,  so we got really fit.  The biggest walk, was up Panekiri Bluff.  YIKES!  In the afternoon, we went kayaking if we had enough time.  We always did, so we went every day.  Then we headed home, in the fanciest bus ever!

Our Adventure

 ¨Yay! Where finally starting!¨ everyone was Saying.  Pad, pad, went our shoes as we gently strolled up the first case of stairs.  Me and Esther started chatting about the last hike we went on. We began nearing the top, or so we thought.  We were coming  up to the statues of light. All of the year 6s were confused though, when we only stopped there  to look at it.  We  soon carried on.  Suddenly, there were all theese twists and turns! Where no stairs could go.  I slowly turned my head, to look at the view.  It was magnificent.  soon enough there were these odd down hills, then we went back up, and down and up And down. That was until we reached the top.  The look-out.  Personally, I don't call it the top.  We got a drink, and started down.

Me and Esther chatted a lot on the way down.  A couple of times we had to run to catch up.  then it was hard to slow down. ¨There are so many ferns.¨ I said. She agreed then quite soon, when we were almost down someone spotted a native, and rare Owl.  A More-pork.  ¨I've  Never seen one of theese before.¨ I said.  ¨It's pretty.¨ said Esther.  Soon enough we reached the bottom and had some morning tea.  

On the way back up we had a look in the hole in a rock. It was really dumpy around there.  When we started backup most people's legs got very achy as it was very steep.  We, sadly, didn't see the More-pork on the way back up and it felt like it would take us forever.  We did see a lot of Fantails though.  

We were going back down the steps and everyone was relieved that we were getting back to the cars.  As the view got Bigger Cornelia yelled out ¨ I can see the rice sheep Again!!!¨  We finally reached the cars again. That's where we got a drink again.  Happy to be finished the walk we headed back to school.

Crazy Days Back

Week 1

On the day school started I arrived, excited and ready for a new year! Mostly,  I was still pretty exhausted from the holidays.  Everyday in week 1 was crazy! On Monday, the first day back at school, we started our mandala art.  It lasted a while.  But it sure was fun.   

Week 2

On Monday, the first day of week 2021, we went for a walk to Hamanatua stream, since it was walk to our pepeha week.  On Wednesday we walked up Maungaroa.  It was pretty fun and we learnt a lot.  On Friday we did our first round of year 6 surfing, that was pretty fun but in bad conditions. But when that week ended I new exactly what I needed, shoes.

Week 3 

In week 3, I forgot what we did but I remember Surfing. That Friday we went surfing again, At Roberts road.  It was big, fun and dumpy.  When your out the back that is.  That day Klara and Esther got the style award, Tre got the best wave Award and I got the perseverance award.

Week 4

Its week 4 now, and we´ve had fun doing collaborative art.  On Monday we went to our school marae and on Wednesday we  had school swimming sports.  

They were both fun as!! We went surfing again this morning and it was awesome.  I can´t remember who got the awards but it was tiny.  Also I was on a new board. And  I/we just finished some more art called My Pepeha Art and it looks GREAT!

Te Reo o te wiki

kia ora everyone!!

I'm very excited because its, Te Reo o te Wiki, week.  That means its Maori week.

For quick write we had to do maori vocabulary and word work was a maori word find. 

We also have to speak as much Maori as possible. 

some basic words are: Kia ora, Ka pai, Te reo, morena, Ata maria, and Tena koutou.  There are more but these are for beginners. if you want to learn more go on the next activity.

I'll tell you about the vocabulary.  You get to  choose between numbers, fruit, animals, vocabulary builders, vocabulary and colours.  There's a list at the beginning of each activity. You read the list and then start.  They test you  read.

Word work is a word find.  You have to find all the words on the list.  next, after you've finished that you have to find out what each word means.  You try it.

BEACH

On monday and Tuesday me and my syntacite went to the beach for learning through play.  Me and my friends Naia, Alivia and Lola played tag at first and then they decided they didn't want to.  When they started building a turtle I walked away because I didn't want to.  I went to see one of my other friends, Cornelia, and watched her and some other people braid some people's hair, Including a teachers, and at the end they placed freiges really carefully in the braid.  It was beautiful.

On tuesday me Naia, Alivia and Lola played a gym game.  Naia was the builder, Lola was boss and Alivia was assistant.  I was the person who came to trial.  After a while we got bored.  Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!  Naia and Lola did something and me and Alivia played tag and asked Naia and Lola to play to. we did run through the freiga patch though.  soon after we left.
